Answer: The Universal Postal Union (UPU) coordinates postal policies among member nations and, was established by the Treaty of Bern of 1874. In 1948, after the foundation of the United Nations, the UPU became a specialized agency of the UN in 1948.

In 1974 the Vatican Post Office issued a two stamp set to commemorate the 1st centenary of the founding of the Universal Postal Union.
