Answer: In 2019 the Vatican celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the conclusion of the restoration work on the Sistine Chapel. This multi-project restoration work started in 1964 and concluded in 1994. The project itself was historical considering the complexity of the task and the nature of the work being restored. The Vatican Post Office released various sets of stamps as each step of the project was completed. For the 25th anniversary of the conclusion of the project Michangelo's Last Judgement was chosen to be the source image for a celebration stamp.
