He was the eldest of five children of Mario José Bergoglio and Regina María Sívori. Mario Bergoglio was an Italian immigrant accountant born in Portacomaro in Italy's Piedmont region. Regina Sívori was born in Buenos Aires to a family of northern Italian origin. 2016 with Pope Francis: Throughout the three years of his Pontificate, Pope Francis has shown that he does not address problems through laws, but by "initiating processes" involving many people.
