The Daily Question
Who is NOT one of the FIRST THREE of the NINE
Jesuit companions linked to the birth of the Society of Jesus?
1. St Francis Xavier
2. Blessed Pierre Farve
3. St Aloysius Gonzaga
4. St Ignatius of Loyola
Your answer was: St Aloysius Gonzaga
You are correct!!
Answer: This issue commemorates the
first three of the nine Jesuit companions, Pierre Farve, Ignatius of Loyola, and Francis Xavier, linked to the birth of the Society of Jesus. The Society was approved by Pope Paul III in 1540 to serve the Lord and the Church, under the direction of the Roman Pontiff, at a time marked by spiritual upheaval.
For many years in Paris, this band of three shared a room, a common purse, and common purpose, yet while Ignatius and Xavier were sainted, Favre remains humbly ‘blessed’.
