For today’s Daily Email, we are foregoing our normal format to focus on a series of news items related to the Society (there is one stamp topic item as well). Tomorrow’s Daily Email will return to our regular layout so be sure to check it out.
VPS Meeting at the Vatican Central Post Office
Thanks to his relentless efforts, VPS Webmaster Marvin Lanahan has arranged a meeting with Father Felice Bruno, the Head of the Postal and Philately Service Office at the Vatican. Marvin and his wife Mary are currently on one of their European excursions, and while in Rome they will meet with Father Bruno at the Central Post Office on Tuesday, May 5. Other officials from CFN have also been invited (although it is unclear who will be attending).
This is a great opportunity to get answers to some of the pressing questions VPS members have about all things Vatican philately, so send your questions to us via the link below.

Vatican Notes
Despite unforeseen delays, the first quarter 2026 issue of the VPS quarterly journal,
Vatican Notes
, is at the printer and should be arriving at your doors shortly. As usual, it is full of fascinating articles on the stamps and postal history of the Vatican and beyond.
As an important reminder, the Notes mailing will include an envelope for the payment of dues for the 2026-2027 VPS year. May 1 marks the starting date for the Society to begin its annual membership renewal process. In addition to the envelope you will receive with the journal, online dues payments can be made on the VPS website. Go to the Member Page at www.vaticanstamps.org and click on the “Pay 2026-2027 Dues” button to make your payment using PayPal. Or click on the button below to go to the website.
Members will receive email reminders over the next couple of months to encourage membership recruitment, dues renewals and supplemental donations to the Society.
Thanks in advance for being a member of the Vatican Philatelic Society!

New Vatican Stamp Released
In a bit of a surprise, the Vatican Post website issued a press release, dated April 23, to announce its latest stamp release. The stamp, for the 325th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy, became available on Saturday, April 25. The stamp was listed on the 2026 annual philatelic program, but it is a bit unusual that it is being released separately and is not part of the usual quarterly batch release. The stamp has a special postmark for its issuance, and a special folder is also part of the release. Click on the button below, which will take you to the Vatican Post website and the 2026 “Communicati”, or press releases.
