Mission Status: Stamps from postcards recently received
Getting postcard is always fun! The humans tend to send postcards to family and friend while on vacation. Lou sent two postcards from his recent travels. Perhaps I could get the webmaster to let me go on another vacation for a few weeks right away just so I could send him some postcards. Think that strategy of getting away would work? Probably not! I just won't remind him we just returned from vacation.Looking at the first postcard Lou sent. It is from Vatican City, postmarked 10/17/2025, and has some nice stamps!
Left stamp is from the 2023 2nd year Decade For Ecosystem Restoration series and the two stamps on the right are the 2023 825th Anniversary Of The Dedication Of The Spoleto Cathedral commentative stamps.The postmark is a typical machine cancel used by the Vatican Post Office. Noting special. The postmark is typical of postcards submitted to the postal boxes in St. Perter's square and shows the Vatican postal code as assigned by the Italian Postal System.
I asked Lou about the mailing date. He told me it was mailed on the October 13. That means that the Vatican Post Office took four days to process it! So much for postal efficiency!!
The second postcard is from San Mario and has a smudgy postmark, but I know it was mailed in October of 2025 in the country of San Marino. I read were 10% of the San Mario economy is based on stamp sales. Wonder how that is doing in time when European stamp dealers are not sending stamps to the US over tariff confusions?

This postcard will fit nicely in my stamp album pages if I ever get the Vatican stamps to go with them.
