Mission: Telling A Christmas Tale
Today marks a joyful milestone in our VPS holiday chronicles: regular mail from Vatican City has officially reached American soil! The first confirmed arrival of a Vatican Christmas 2025 card delivery in the USA has been reported (by our tracking), twenty days after its postmark in Vatican City. And yes, it came adorned with a current-year 2025 Christmas stamps, postmarked November 14th by the Vatican Post Office.This festive endeavor (tracking experiment) was lovingly orchestrated by a Vatican contact and myself, the plan was conceived was first while floating across the Atlantic during my recent vataction (aided, of course, by those punch drinks with the umbrellas). The journey of the Christmas card travels is a tale worth retelling:
Christmas Card Origin: from Katy, Texas - quickly prepared after returning home from vacation in late October.
First leg: Christmas cards packaged and mailed to Georgia via USPS with 2-day delivery, on to meet plan schedule tight delivery schedule
The package with Christmas cards hand carried to a Rome by an unknown contact person, delivering "care package" (with the Christmas cards) to our Rome contact person. (US CIA couldn't have completed the timing of this task any better! It was must have been some sort of "angel delivery" of which details are still unknown but very much appreciated).
The Vatican leg: Christmas cards stamped and mailed by Rome contact person in St. Peter’s Square on November 13th.
Christmas cards postmarked on November 14th by the Vatican Post Office.
We waited for first indication of Christmas card delivery.First Christmas card reported to arrive was in Germany on November 23rd.
Second Christmas card reported to arrive was in Rome on November 24th. Guess mail delivery from Vatican City to Germany has higher priority than local Rome delivery. Ten-day delivery time for local Rome mail is somewhat interesting!
Third Christmas card delivery was received December 3rd in Boston, then followed by a delivery in New York. Yea! This proved that there is still a capability of the Vatican Postal Service to get something to the US. Those VPS members still waiting for stamp delivery (ordered in July of 2025) from the Vatican CFN have been wondering about this. The Vatican Postal Service can deliver mail to the United States!
Other Christmas Card deliveries to various US cities were eventually reported also.
The plan worked!! A few lucky Vatican stamp collectors now have a 2025 Christmas stamped envelope in their collection! See what one can dream up while sitting cruise ship deck chair sipping those from punch drinks with umbrellas (aided by a few contacts who made it happen)!
