Mission Status: Appeal- A Call to Action on the Vatican Shipping Suspension

The situation surrounding the suspension of Vatican philatelic shipments to the United States has reached a point where quiet patience is no longer enough. Over the past several weeks, I have been sending letters to every office that might hold a key to resolving this impasse—from the CFN Sales Unit to the Vatican Post Office, U.S. Trade representatives, Ambassadors, the Archbishop of Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, and to even Donnald Trump. The most recent of these was directed to Don Felice Bruno, head of the Vatican Post Office, through the official contact portal(
https://www.postevaticane.va/en/contacts ).
My purpose was simple: to determine whether my July 2025 CFN order truly exists and is merely sitting in a Vatican warehouse, as CFN has repeatedly claimed, and to press for clarity on when the suspension of U.S. philatelic shipments will finally be lifted.
At this point, it is increasingly clear that Fr. Bruno and the Vatican Post Office are the central decision-makers in this matter. Not the Vatican CFN! If the issue truly stems from concerns about U.S. tariff regulations, then the proper path is straightforward:
- the Vatican Post Office should seek clarification directly from the U.S. Trade Representative (Jamieson Greer - Office of the United States Trade Representative)
- if necessary, involve U.S. Ambassador Burch - the U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See
These channels exist precisely to prevent misunderstandings that harm collectors, institutions, and international goodwill.
But the Vatican Post Office will only feel the urgency of this issue if they hear not just from one collector, but from many.
A Request to All VPS Members
If you share the desire to see Vatican philatelic shipments restored—and to ensure that our community’s orders, collections, and commitments are respected—please take a moment to send a brief, courteous message to Fr. Bruno. The contact page is here:
https://www.postevaticane.va/en/contacts
A short note is all that’s needed. Encourage the Vatican Post Office to:
• Confirm the status of outstanding CFN orders
• Clarify the reason for the suspension
• Seek official guidance from U.S. authorities if tariff concerns are the cause
• Restore shipments to the United States as soon as possible
Every message adds weight. Every voice strengthens the appeal.
Let’s show that the VPS community is attentive, organized, and deeply committed to preserving the flow of Vatican philatelic history.
Here is a draft note to Fr. Bruno which you can modify, then cut and paste into the Vatican Post Office contact page (

Subject: Inquiry Regarding Suspension of U.S. Philatelic Shipments
Dear Fr. Bruno,
I am writing as a Vatican stamp collector concerned about the ongoing suspension of philatelic shipments to the United States. Many of us have outstanding CFN orders that appear to be delayed, and we are hoping for clarification on their status and on when shipments to the U.S. may resume.
If the suspension is related to questions about U.S. customs or tariff regulations, we respectfully encourage the Vatican Post Office to seek guidance from the appropriate U.S. authorities so that this matter can be resolved promptly.
Your assistance in restoring normal philatelic service would be greatly appreciated by collectors and supporters of Vatican philately throughout the United States.
Thank you for your time and attention.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
