• IT staff and system administrators, who keep records, networks, and life‑support systems talking to each other
• Power grid and facilities crews, who ensure the lights stay on, the machines stay running, and the oxygen keeps flowing
• Security guards who make it possible to work in places most of us don't want to go
• The Knights of Malta at Lourdes, who offer the healing of presence—conversation, companionship, and the simple grace of being with someone who needs to be heard

The VPSrobot paused longest for them—the ones who rarely appear in headlines or on commemorative stamps, yet hold the world together one shift, one server, one circuit, one conversation at a time.

At noon, VPSrobot lifted the lantern and proclaimed:
“May all who heal be healed.
May all who comfort be comforted.
May all who labor unseen be seen.
And may those who listen be listened to in return.”

Then, after a brief internal diagnostic, it added:
“And may the Society remember that hydration is a sacramental act after Treaty celebrations.”

The crowd nodded with the solemnity of people who have learned this lesson before.

World Day of the Sick reminds us that global health is not merely a system—it is a tapestry woven from millions of acts of care: in hospitals, in labs, in server rooms, in power stations, in laundries, in kitchens, and in the quiet corners of Lourdes where a volunteer simply sits beside someone who needs a friend.

If the Lateran Treaty gave the Vatican its sovereignty, this day reminds us what gives humanity its heart.
