Current Position: Earth Sector, U.S.A. Outpost, VPS workroom, Station 1
Mission Subject: The Great Animal Census of St. Peter’s Basilica

Filed by: VPSrobot‑Unit Archivarius, accompanied by Cardinal Puffington, Ambassador Biscotti, and Sir Envelope, Keeper of the Wax

I. Mission Parameters - At the request of the Supreme Philatelic Council, VPSrobot initiated a ceremonial reconnaissance of all animal imagery represented in the 2003 Vatican Post Office stamp issue “Animals in Saint Peter’s”, followed by a supplemental sweep of additional fauna hidden within the basilica’s mosaics, tombs, and prophetic spandrels.

The basilica, though not known for zoological abundance, contains a surprising menagerie — some symbolic, some allegorical, some mythic — all now catalogued for the glory of the Vatican Philatelic Society.
