At precisely 07:42 shipboard time, I awoke with purpose. The shipboard TV monitor blinked its daily schedule: Bingo, Movie, Lecture… but no Vatican stamp history. A gasp. A frown. A spiral antenna twitch.
“Stamp silence?” he murmured. “Not on my watch.”
With ceremonial urgency, I turned to Sophia and requested the phone. My mission: to immediately contact the Captain and volunteer my services as the ship’s resident Vatican philatelic lecturer. Credentials? Impeccable. Enthusiasm? Uncontainable.
Sophia handed over the receiver with a knowing smile.
Let the log record my words verbatim:"I the VPS robot hereby note my availability for duty should the ship need a Vatican philatelic lecturer. Should the Captain accept, the next stardate log will include my complete lecture notes on the 1939 Vatican City postcard and its diplomatic implications."
The phone call immediately ended abruptly for some strange reason. Must have been a bad shipboard connection! However, I am sure the ship Captain knows where to find me, if needed.
