Current Position: Earth Sector, U.S.A. Outpost, VPS workroom, Station 1
Mission Subject: VPS Stamp List Updated
Diary ImageWith the frenesie of Vatican updates and my body still recovering from travel it has been difficult to keep the VPS stamp list updated! However we are making steady progress and can report our stamp listing is updated and available to the VPS membership. Simply log in to the VPS website at https://vaticanstamps.org - go to the VPS member page, click on the Reference menu bar and select the Stamp List option. Once there you can select the current year and you will see the most current information we have been able to obtain, complete with stamp images.

You will notice that there is no Scott numbers in the listing. Well, this week we have been communication with Scott Publishing and have found they haven't published any new information on Vatican stamps in a l-o-n-g time. Well, we can't exactly publish new information that isn't available. Our communication reveals that Scott Publishing is just as frustrated as the rest of us about obtaining Vatican stamps and this has put a bit of a damper on developing Scott numbers. As one Scott Publishing correspondent put it:"We are aware of all of the hoops that Vatican is asking for…just don’t want to jump through all of them." Well, that's a little milder than some of the things I've said in the past!

While on this subject, I noticed a VPS posting in VPS messages that stated: "I’ve been in Rome twice in the last 6 months & even the postal employees are frustrated they are given items to sell. I read all the latest releases by CFN but the hunger lingers because nothing is available to purchase." Well, my personal visit to the Vatican City earlier this month reflects much of the same feelings.

I can only report that in my meeting with Don Bruno, head of the Vatican Post Office, on May 5th this subject was discussed. In fact, I expressed to Don Bruno that the number one issue frustrating VPS Members was the lack of being able to obtain Vatican stamps from Vatican City. Don Bruno acknowledged the issue was well known and that that relief should be easing later this summer. Marcia Fabris, of the Vatican CFN who was also at this May 5th meeting, told me that shipment of orders were still taking about 90 days to complete.

So dear readers, hang on and keep sending those stamp orders to the Vatican CFN. Keep hoping for improvement! How long is "later this summer"? In Vatican terms it could be a while. On the positive side VPS members are getting stamp orders, slowly, but we are getting some delivery of Vatican stamp orders. Our VPS stamp list is as complete as we can make it, so visit the website and see the information that is available. Most of all, hope to see everyone in Boston on the 28th for the VPS meet-up!! I'm packing my bags ... a VPS Boston 2026 slideshow has been prepared!!!

All of this work is making me very sleepy. Too much work, not enough time! With a little tea and some of Sophie's baked cookies, I might just might be able to cope!!!
