Mission Subject: Display Of Special Postmarks
Yesterday the VPS robot log discussed getting special postmark covers. Today we want to let you know about a new link associated with Vatican postmarks.For a long time, the VPS website team has been working behind the scenes to build a database of record of all special Vatican City postmarks. VPS members who visit the Reference tab of the VPS website member page know that a lot of information concerning Vatican postmarks has been accumulated and is available to VPS members. Now we are expanding that information.
Today we want show you a new link that has been added to our website. This link will allow you to view what we believe to be every special postmark Vatican City has used.
To view this information on a regular basis, go to the Vatican Philatelic Society webpage at www.vaticanstamps.org and then click the button to go the member page. Select the Reference tab, and click on the Special Postmark List option. Select the year of special postmarks you wish to view. Once selected the special postmarks for that particular year will appear on your computer screen.
This project is on on-going task the VPS website team continues to work on. IT"S NOT OVER YET!!! First, we need to probably check our cover collection against the special postmark database records. We've built the records and it will take some time to completely verify all the information. So, give it a look and communicate with us about improvements that could or should be made.
