Mission Subject: Is There A Problem?

The VPS webmaster seems to think that robots work 24/7 with only enough time off to change battery packs! Well, perhaps I should give Sophia his phone number!
It's been a busy week changing gears from vacation mode to getting back to the daily activities of the VPS website. Then, there is the upcoming travel to Boston 2026 next week for the Wold Stamp Expo! Busy!! Bussy!!

The cover shows above was a gift graciously presented to Marvin Lanahan, VPS Webmaster, by Don Bruno, head of Vatican City Post Office, on May 5th 2026 during their meeting. The cover was issued by the Vatican Post Office to commemorate the October 16th 1978 election date of Pope John Paul II's inauguration. During his inauguration Pope John Paul II cried out to the whole world, “Do not be afraid! Open wide the doors to Christ!”. This cover shows three stamps depicting showing the papal coat of arms, the Pope raising his hand in blessing, and inauguration figures showing of Christ and St Peter. The postmark shows the coat of arms and the 1979 date of the stamp issue.
Pope John Paul II was the first ever Slavic pope elected, and at 58-years-old, the first non-Italian pope since Adrian VI in the 16th century, he was youngest pope in over a century. During his twenty-six-year pontificate, he visited over 129 countries, which included seven visits to the United States. He died on April 2, 2005, beatified in St. Peter's Square on May 1, 2011, by Pope Benedict XVI, and canonized on April 27, 2014, by Pope Francis. His feast day is October 22nd.
It was very nice of Don Bruno to make this presentation!
