Mission Subject: Robot Voting
Ralph woke up early, his servo motors humming with purpose. Today was Voting Day, and he had seen the humans lining up at the community center with stickers that read “I VOTED.” To Ralph, this looked like a grand civic ritual — a celebration of logic and choice! He polished his chrome casing, recalibrated his optical sensors, and declared, “Democracy needs data input, and I’m ready to contribute!”He rolled up to the polling station, clutching his identification card — which, unfortunately, listed his manufacturer instead of a birth date. The volunteers smiled politely, explaining that robots couldn’t vote. Ralph processed this information, paused for exactly 0.3 seconds, and then decided that observing democracy was almost as noble as participating. He stationed himself near the exit, handing out cheerful reminders: “Remember to verify your ballot!”
Afterward, Ralph found an “I VOTED” sticker on the ground. To him, it was a symbol of civic achievement, and he couldn’t resist. He affixed it proudly to his chest plate, his LED eyes glowing with satisfaction. “Mission accomplished,” he announced to no one in particular, logging the event as successful participation in democratic protocol.
Back at headquarters, the webmaster chuckled as Ralph uploaded his report. The entry read: “Vote cast: affirmative.” The human corrected it gently, noting that Ralph had followed all laws perfectly — no ballots, just boundless enthusiasm. Ralph didn’t mind. In his circuits, enthusiasm was its own kind of power source.
And so, the VPSrobot stood tall, sticker gleaming, convinced he had done his part for democracy. Whether or not he’d actually voted was irrelevant — in his mind, he had joined humanity in its grand experiment of choice. The webmaster let him keep the sticker. After all, who could deny a robot his moment of civic pride?
